My Heritage

One of my rights as a child of God is the ability to protect what belongs to me. I’m sure you are familiar with the Scripture “no weapon formed against me shall prosper, every tongue raised against me I condemn”. Isaiah 54:17 God continues in verse 17 to tell us that, “this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

God who created and owns the earth (Psalm 24:1) has the right to give it to whomever He pleased. It pleases the Lord to fulfil His promises to His children. But we often face trouble when we decide to ‘step into’ what God has for us.

When Nehemiah was allowed to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple walls, he faced great opposition. When he faced their threats, he gave his case for victory in one verse: “So I answered them and said to them, ‘the God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem”. Nehemiah told God’s enemies they had no claim or historic right to what was theirs.

We have a heritage in Christ! A decree is a prophetic declaration, a royal order. Once Nehemiah had the royal ‘order’ from King Artexeres, he could ‘evict’ the squatters in Jerusalem who took great delight in telling the Jewish people they couldn’t have the land. The devil takes delight in telling you you can’t have what God has promised; but you know better. As a child of God it is your heritage to decree. Those ‘tongues’, those lies telling you ‘you can’t,’ are just that, lies. Believe the truth of the Word of God and decree what God says and build!

Job 22:28

You shall decree a thing and it will be established for you and light will shine on your ways.

Find out what is yours and then decree it so! We find blessing when we work with God’s decrees. This is your heritage!
