But I Don't Want To

Although faith is the ability to understand God’s Word and get it into the subconscious mind, you don’t always WANT to believe God. You must make a decision to believe God.

If you are to receive anything from God, the Bible says that when you pray, ‘believe that you receive it’ (Mark 11:24). Sometimes it means you have to believe it in the face of apparent defeat. When things go wrong or are going wrong, it’s time to close the mouth.

When walking down the street in Pasadena, CA in January 2020, I had no idea what the year 2020 would bring. I saw a sign which really spoke to me at the time.

“The highest form of freedom carries with it the greatest measure of discipline.”

Discipline isn’t fun. It’s generally boring! Why didn’t I practice scales when learning the piano? Scales are boring. Drills are boring. Faith will be no higher than the words I speak.

“The words of my mouth and the thoughts of my mind are like the twin hulls of a catamaran. As I bring them both into line with the Word of God, they will stabilise my life.”
— Margaret Court

Renewing the mind involves disciplining both what we choose to SAY and what we choose to THINK on. We discipline our mouths by REFUSING TO SPEAK NEGATIVELY. We discipline our minds by REFUSING TO FOLLOW THROUGH UNHEALTHY PATTERNS.

Step into a higher realm: Focus your heart and thoughts upon the Lord. ‘Frame a picture’ of Jesus in your imagination and begin to converse with him. Focus on the good things of God.
