Let The Light In

I am struck by Genesis 1:16 “Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule by day and the lesser light to rule the night. God set them in the firmament of the Heavens to give light on the Earth.”

I had not considered it much before, but darkness is chaos, absolute darkness is terrifying. However, even in darkness God gives us the moon and the stars for light! God set lights in the firmament of the Heavens to give light to the Earth. The good news is that even in darkness, God gives us light.

Psalm 4:6 “Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

As we moved into 2021, I realised that no matter how much the world seemed to be falling off a cliff, God has set His light, even in darkness, to guide His children. God calls us “Children of Light”. Jesus is the Light of the world; the world may be in darkness, but the Church is a ‘light set on a hill’.

The world is dark and it takes courage for the Church to step up and be that light. But there is a wonderful song by Cody Carnes and Kari Jobe called, “Let The Light In”. It was my theme song coming into 2021 and it is a great prophetic declaration to make this year. Let the light in!
